John Sauer, MSN, FNP-C
Medical Director
My name is John Sauer, and I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Much like a family physician, a family nurse practitioner is a primary care medical provider with extensive training in the diagnosis and primary care treatment of all of types of health conditions and injuries seen.
Just like the many other health care providers and clinicians at Desert Senita Community Health Center, my training is extensive. I personally have 33 years of experience in healthcare. I worked as a as a volunteer EMT-Paramedic while serving on active duty in the United States Marine Corps in North Carolina. After discharge from the Marines, I started full time in Jacksonville, NC as a paramedic, working in multiple positions including crew chief of the unit, up to shift supervisor of the county wide EMS system. I had obtained many skills which I continue to use daily in my medical practice including wound repair with suturing, wound care, abscess drainage, splinting and additional emergency necessities that can occasionally arise in a family practice setting.
I continued my career in healthcare going into nursing, in the intensive care unit at the local hospital system where I worked as a paramedic. I transferred from there to a larger hospital system in Arizona, HonorHealth and worked as an ICU nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care unit, where I continued to develop my skills and knowledge in critical care and chronic disease management. It is this experience that brings forth my favorite specialties in medicine, cardiovascular care, respiratory care and diabetes management.
In my spare time, I enjoy everything outdoors with my family taking in the scenery while camping. I love to hunt and fish with both my boys, avid hunters.
I joined Desert Senita Community Health Center this year because it is my heart’s desire to serve patients in underserved and remote areas and to provide them with excellent medical care.
