(Dr.) Toyin Esan, PharmD, MBA, BCPS
Director of clinical Education, Clinical Pharmacist
My name is Dr. Toyin Esan, and I am a board-certified Clinical Pharmacist. A clinical pharmacist is a health care provider who specializes in the treatment of complex diseases with medications. We work closely with our patients and their other medical providers to make sure that our patients are on the absolute best medications available to treat and prevent health conditions. Just like the many other awesome health care providers and clinicians at Desert Senita Community Health Center, my training is extensive. I personally have 17 years of experience in healthcare.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Pre-Pharmacy at the University of Maryland, College Park and my Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Howard University School of Pharmacy in Washington, D.C. In addition to this, I completed years of extra training in clinical pharmacy and have been a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist since 2018.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending time with family, and learning about other cultures and languages.
Desert Senita is a special place, because unlike in most outpatient clinics, clinical pharmacists are a key part of the medical team. You’ll likely hear from me if you are discharged from a hospital or are placed on new medications for the treatment of a chronic disease, like diabetes. Feel free to call and ask for an appointment with me if you have any questions about your medications or would like to discuss how we can partner together to improve your health outcomes. Along with other members of the pharmacy team, I also provide vaccinations.
I joined Desert Senita Community Health Center this year because I care about patients and their access to high quality care. I enjoy providing patients with valuable information about their diagnoses, their medical treatment, and options available to them, all of which helps them to succeed in their treatment plan and empowers them to care for themselves.
